The Daily Dig
This past Sunday I saw on the CalBerkeley Botanical Garden fan page on facebook, this bamboo structure being installed by a natural building materials class from Merritt College and at that moment I knew where I would be spending the first part of my morning. The structure is very cool, and being hand made gives it an even more special quality, and would recommend that if you have the chance to stop by the botanical garden to stand in and around it to do so. Not sure how long it will be up on display but I bet it will be in for the better part of the summer.
Approaching from the front gate
Inside
Here you can see how the bamboo is being held together
Looking back across the structure
Looks like a simple 18 guage wire is all that is holding it together
Its like weaving but on a differnt scale
