The Daily Dig
I started planning my spring garden tours and the first one on my list was the Getty Center. What a great garden to start off with. My friend Jackie was the perfect companion and is always ready for a garden adventure. We started our day with a picnic by the tram station and then took a walk through the outdoor sculpture garden. As beautiful as the sculptures where, I was itching to take the tram to the top of the hill to see the Central Garden.

As we walked down the meandering creek pathway of the Central Garden, I explained to Jackie the controversial move the Getty made when hiring artist Robert Irwin to create the garden. Instead of using someone in the horticultural field, the Getty felt the installation artist was best suited for the job. I have always liked what Robert has done. It's nice to see a fresh perspective of what a garden could be.
When we reached the maze at the bottom of the hill, you could finally smell and see the springtime flowers. Bees were buzzing, birds were singing, children were playing....isn't that what springs all about?
One of the things I like most about the Getty Gardens is that they're always changing. Depending on the season, you can always expect to be surprised!
