A Sculptor's Garden

If you like your gardens creepy and bizarre then I have the garden for you. I stumbled into Jonathan Bickart's sculpture studio in Santa Monica, CA and was amazed and frightened at what lurked in his garden. The garden is an extension of his sculpting studio where he works and teaches classes.
 
Peek-a-boo...I'm gonna get you!
More is better!
There is definitely an ominous feel and look to his garden. Headless mannequins and skeletons mix effortlessly with potted plants. An astronaut suspended in mid-air serves as the perfect backdrop for the gardens main seating area. The sculptures are made by Jonathan or from his past students.

While talking to Jonathan about his garden, I got the feeling that he didn't know why I liked his garden so much. I liked it because you can tell that it wasn't planned...it just kind of happened. It's great to see a sculptors' take on what a garden could be.
