My friend Jasmin and I took a walk around her neighborhood and found ourselves mesmerized by a breathtaking french normandie style chateau smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles. We couldn't help but peer over the fence to take in all it's grandure. When all of the sudden a man appeared behind us and asked if we would like to see more. The "man" happened to be a friend of the owners of the chateau and was visiting when he noticed the two architectual admirers salivating over what they saw. Our lucky day was about to begin. He introduced us to the owners Dean and Dimitri...a warm and welcoming couple who invited us in to take a tour of their home and garden. I asked them these questions along the way.

Describe your gardening style
Formal, topiaries, roses, and anything French.
What's your favorite part of your garden
The fireplace by the seating area. We use it quite often.
What's your biggest gardening challenge
The mildew on our iceberg roses.
What's your favorite garden element
I think it would have to be the pool. We installed water features that turn it from a pool into a fountain.

Tell us about your biggest indulgence
Fine crystal chandeliers.
Give us your best decorating advice
Scale. Make sure your furniture and accessories are big enough for the room you are decorating. The bigger the better!
Who or what inspires you
Travel. A recent trip to the Caribbean gave us lots of good ideas.
Describe your decorating style
Regency and art deco. We love the styles of the 1920's-1940's.
What's your proudest home improvement
The kitchen. It couldn't have turned out better.
