The Daily Dig
This past weekend we set off from Oakland to Ukiah with the goal of leaving our worries behind. As we headed north to soak in soothing pools at Orr Hot Springs we couldn’t help but to be overwhelmed by the beauty that surrounded us. Hills still green from the spring rains, wildflowers blooming, and roadside gardens surrounded us as we traveled through the Napa and Alexander Valleys. OK, it doesn’t normally take 3 and half hours to travel a distance of 120 miles, but, if you take the time to look out the window you’ll realize that getting there is half the fun. And don’t forget to pull over!

Red roses planted at the foot of grape vines.

Native Oaks dot the road. Some of them are strewn with Spanish moss. Worth pulling over for. And by the way, Spanish Moss is very easy to start if you happen to see some on the ground.

The Jimtown Store is a required stopping point. Get a latte, a couple sandwiches and a thank you gift for the person watching your cat/kid/dog/chickens.

A rose garden along the road. In case you didn’t know, roses are incredible easy to start. I’m just saying.

Beautiful hills that you travel over before being dropped down into Ukiah.

As we neared Ukiah we spotted these native Sedums clinging to a rocky hillside. They're pretty small but the electric orange got our attention.

We spotted these flowers from the roadside among the tall grasses. Anyone know what this is?

love the tone of the trip- relaxed, taking it all in, being captured by the beauty around us. Love the photos of the clouds, and the poppies...
