The Daily Dig
I can easily say that everyone who loves a garden, LOVES a garden party and that is certainly the case for me. Today was the annual garden party of my gardening/plant enthusiast friend and Garden Geek member Serialplantfetishist at his garden home located right on Berkeley's Strawberry Creek.
Mark's approach to gardening and plant collecting is without any formal training or "educated" preconditions to what gardening is all about. His approach might in many ways runs in contrary to what many design oriented gardeners, and garden designers would prescribe, but it is in this wild haphazard yet calm environment that Mark has created where it's charm and beauty gets its amazing energy.
The garden is loosely made up of a number of different garden rooms, one has a lawn for relaxing and enjoying the sun, another space is a large secluded deck perched in a back corner that over looks the entire garden, and then other smaller spaces with benches that look into plantings rich with textures and colors.
Garden parties provide a great opportunity to meet with other gardeners to talk about the plants and flowers in bloom, and to sit back and relax with a nice glass of wine, take in a beautiful day and space created by the nurturing hand and curious mind of another gardener, and let your senses come alive!
