The Daily Dig
So much can happen in a garden during the course of a few weeks, and so much seems to be going on in mine this fine Sunday morning. I have been working on a project outside of the house for the past 6 weeks and every weekend when I am at home I go out into my jungle and am pleased to find so many of my plants either coming into bloom or blooming. Below are a few photos that I took today of flowers that are at their peak.
Orchid Oncidium Island Style - I picked this beauty up a number of years back and for the first couple of years I didn't get flowers, but it seems like for the past couple of years I have been treated to these very beautiful flowers. Makes me feel like I want to go "Island Style" :)
This years spike has produced the most flowers todate.
I got a small bunch of this bromeliad from my friend Brad Austin a number of years ago and it is pretty much taken over the lower part of two palm trees. Today I noticed for the very first time that it produces some very tiny chartreuse flowers, very sweet, and I am so glad I saw them.
I bought this Begonia last year from the Dry Garden in Oakland, CA and it is an amazing plant as you can see.
Not remembering the name of this plant, but it adds interesting texture and color to the planting.
The Lily's have been blooming for about a month now, and this is one of the last buds to open.
I was gifted this Dahlia from my dear friend Michael Truncale a year ago when he and his family made a move from Oakland to Petaluma. I'll be dividing it this year and passing part back now that they are all settled in.
So that's a little tour of what's blooming in my garden this Sunday morning I hope everyone enjoys the shots of these beautiful floral treasures!

Wow, your Begonia boliviensis in the cover photo is doing wonderfully for you. I love the color of its flowers. That delicate little pink and yellow flower belongs to a Cuphea.
